About This Event
Cullercoats Festival is a free community celebration on the beautiful North Tyneside seafront, now in its third year. The 2026 theme is "Communities Together", welcoming everyone from Whitley Bay to Wallsend and beyond. Festival Day on 13 June kicks off with free beach yoga at 8am, followed by a bracing sea dip for the brave, before local legend Ray Laidlaw — drummer and member of the iconic folk-rock band Lindisfarne — officially opens the festival at 10.30am. Throughout the day, multiple venues along the coast burst with song, dance, poetry, storytelling, children's activities, sound baths and community spirit — all free for families. This year also sees the premiere of a brand new Cullercoats Play, written by local people and led by playwright Peter Mortimer. Head down to the gathering on the grass near the playground from 2pm for the main celebrations.
